Summer Reading Challenge

Turn up the volume on your reading this summer and join the Summer Reading Challenge: Read to the Beat!

With a fantastic collection of books inspired by music from around the world, children can explore stories, poetry, graphic novels, and non-fiction for all reading levels.

The challenge is FREE to join, simply sign up at your local library, set your reading goal, and enjoy the rewards along the way.

Wiggly Words for Ages 3-9

Join our FREE music themed Wiggly Words interactive storytelling sessions and help us celebrate this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.

Booking is essential as spaces are limited - please call your local library to book.

Drop-In Craft Activities

We will have a selection of fun and informal craft activities available at each of our libraries throughout the summer. 

These activities will be music themed, to tie in with the Read to the Beat Summer Reading Challenge, and will be offered on a drop-in basis, so no booking is necessary.  Ask at your local library for more information.

Youth Summer Takeover for Ages 11-25

Working in partnership with BG Arts and BG Youth Service we have a fantastic variety of activities for young people this summer:

  • Author Talk with Will Millard

  • Animals Interactive

  • Art Club

  • Bilingual Songwriting Workshop

  • Creative Writing Workshop
