Wintering Well Support

We understand that winter can be a tough time for people in so many ways.

It can be particularly hard with the lack of natural sunlight and Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) can be very debilitating and leave you feeling low and anxious during the autumn and winter months.

Whilst you may not have a SAD diagnosis, you may feel affected by the months with low light.

The Wintering Well pack means you can borrow a portable plug-in SAD lamp which can lift your mood by simulating the sunlight which is lacking during the darker winter months.

In addition to the SAD lamp, the pack contains:

  • A Wintering Well guidebook full of tips and creative ideas to help you feel healthier

  • Information about a free-to-access, self-directed online course which has been specially designed to support people who feel worse during the winter months

  • A winter sky frame

  • Information about how to use the SAD lamp

  • A living with SAD postcard

Each of our libraries also has a host of books that can support you with feeling better during the winter period and our team is on hand to help and advise you.

The Wintering Well packs can be loaned for a 2-week period (extended if necessary) from each of our libraries.

So, why not give the Wintering Well pack a go?  Simply contact your local library to request the kit by phone, on-line or in-person at any of our libraries.

This is a partnership project between Blaenau Gwent Libraries and the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh.
